In one of Europe’s wealthiest nations, food insecurity remains a hidden crisis affecting hundreds of thousands of Dutch residents. Rising living costs, unexpected unemployment, health emergencies, and inadequate social safety nets leave many individuals and families uncertain where their next meal will come from. At Bouman Stichting, we believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.
Our Emergency Food Distribution program serves as the first line of defense against hunger in communities across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and The Hague. We operate on a simple but powerful principle: no one should go to bed hungry in a country of plenty. Through our network of food hubs, mobile distribution units, and community partnerships, we provide immediate relief while working toward long-term solutions to food poverty.

The food parcel from Bouman Stichting arrived when I had nothing left to feed my children. It wasn’t just food—it was hope, delivered with kindness and respect when I needed it most
